About Me

Maybe-not-really-20-something-anymore from Norway who likes to scrapbook and take photos documentarystyle and dreams of photojournalism when not working as a photojournalist and that's pretty much what this blog is about. And I like it this way.

My Scrapbooking

Been scrapbooking since late fall 2005. Currently fortunate enough to be a part of the design teams for Hambly Screenprints, Fancy Pants Designs and Pencil-Lines. ♥

2/2

While trying to catch up w/various scrappy assignments, I found these cards made for Fancy Pants Designs for July that I’ve forgotten to share saved for a rainy day (mmwell it’s not raining here. Yet :p):

henning1

First off – a birthdaycard for a little cute dude whom Amalie hangs around with in kindergarten. The Kraft paper is from an older boy-line from FP, the tag from the Rusted Sun notebook-journal. Letters from the Kraft line also.henning2

The chipboards are from an even older line of chipboard-embellishments, from last year I believe, or maybe even two years ago. Totally cute and I’ve been saving them for so long – but what’s the point hoarding when it’s been a year or more?? Sigh. My pretties.

I painted a thick layer of crackle paint (dino & leaf) & reg paint  (the star), sprayed glimmer mist (gold & olive green)  & layered glossy accent upon them when dry. Lovelovelove the shimmery, awesome look when combining chipboard, crackle paint, glimmermist & glossy accent! I’d do it way often if I had 1. more chipboard 2. more patience (it’s usually an overnight and a little more-process).tyra1

The second card was another birthdaycard for a girlfriend of Amalie. They pretty much always hang together when in kindergarten. tyra1a

It’s a tri-fold-card made using mostly Dancing Girl-stuff. And the aforementioned chipboards, this time w/regular paint and glossy accent only. tyra2Needed the inside to be fairly cute aswell ;p

ania197For yesterdays Pencil-Lines #197 we were sponsored by Nikki Sivils. Our guest was Rae Barthel, who made an awesome card outta Anna’s sketch. I made a card with the My Sweet Cherry Pie-line. Check out the other girls creations with Nikki Sivils! :)

Figured I’d round up w/some photos from yesterdays trip to the theatre. We watched Shrek 3…in 3d (ofcourse – the glasses gives it out, doesn’t? :p). These pictures were taken before the movie actually started, while there were still some (dim) light in the room. This was ISO3200 by the way and I used my 50mm.

I’m testing a new “logo” on the pictures. Dunno if I’ll keep it – but it looks cute doesn’t? The label is from Kitchy Digitals – purchased via 2peas.DSC_1604a

Amalie is very vary of loud noises. And the theatre is way too loud for her – and we didn’t remember that fact until it was too late. Ugh. She spent the next two hours in this position – her fingers in her ears (and dropped using the glasses as it proved too difficult with two fingers in the ears). Note to self: remember earplugs next time! :( When we were done she was happy about the movie though.DSC_1606a This dude however, was as happy as can be.

Have a lovely week :)

calendar

Here’s two of my July-projects for Elle’s Studio. July = vacation-month = unfortunately not too much got done. One is a decorated calendar, using lots of leftover-pieces I found on my desk (yeah well, lots of leftoverpieces shattered around my desk, so :p). Letsee…the tag is from this set – A Sweet Summer. The paper is Fancy Pants Designs. The letter’s adornit, as usual :)calendar_cu2

The flower is put together by Hambly, Making Memories (both the glitter and the yellow flower), Kort & Godt (the large flower in front) and a pin made from various pearls (old necklaces which’s ruined).ie_card

Here’s another card, with one of my fave-tags – Candy Shop Journaling Tags (this color-set is from A Sweet Summer). The other Elle’s tag is a vintage-looking one from this set – Moment to Remember. I whipped out my Scenic Route (been a while now!) papers + a couple Hambly Kraft stickers for this one. Letters from MLS. ie_cu1

It’s a flappy card.. ie_cu1a

..with two flaps so I would have room for the pictures. ie_cu2 ie_cu2a It was for a colleague of mine who was quitting, so I put together some photos from our time together for this goodbye-card from everybody.

The guests left already – gonna share just a few photos from yesterday..

IMG_2234

Waiting for this trio to come home (my kids + their cousin) – my mom and step-father are driving them atm.. (eta – an hour or two!)IMG_2264

Cause we’ve been in Oslo & visited my sister and her new house.. IMG_2271-Edit

..and ofcourse grandma…before leaving the kids with my mom for a week so we could go to Arendal.. IMG_2548 ..to volunteer at the NGP Offshore-racing as we’ve done the last two years. Lots of long, hard hours working, but also fun.

Lots of exciting CHA-news & other scrappy news to catch up with since I’ve been gone. Here’s a few..

  • I’ve been asked to go to Paper & Co Show in Paris in November to teach a few classes. Are you going? Let me know! :)
    calendar_cu2
  • My (and the DTs) first work for Elle’s Studio is up! (I’ll share them in a separate post here later)
    35083_407451258911_170888608911_4566981_1664093_n
  • Elle’s Studio has debuted 17 new items, and among the new stuff you can find the new calendars for 2011. A mix of brights and vintage – lovely!
    6a00e55210ddf588340134857f50f4970c
  • Crate Paper has revealed all the three new lines for CHA Summer. I just got the box myself (it arrived while I was gone) – and just have to say – yummy chipboard!! (seen above – the restoration collection).
    HocusPocusAccessories
  • Pink Paislee is in the middle of revealing all the new CHA collections (atm two have been posted as far as I can tell). My personal favorite? Hard to tell, but I am loving the shape of the new flip-notes (and you know I love my flip-notes!)

Right. Have a few things to do before mom++ gets here, and want to try sneak in some scrappy time (it’s been more than a week w/o anything scrappy for me – ugh! The withdrawals!) as I guess it won’t be much time for that while they are here…so..better get to work!!

Hope you’re enjoying your summer so far!

I’m gonna share a small project I did for 3ndypapir – a bit summery perhaps, because I used the empty plastic-boxes you get from buying ready-made potato-salad (yeah yeah I know – homemade is WAY yummier than most you get from the store….I’m working with myself to get better at making my own).

tomboks  Nevertheless – if you do have any of these boxes- they’re high and nice – hold on to them. They’ll make nifty giftboxes :)

grethe3 Just bake some cookies – here I made some French macaroons. (Yummy recipe here. Norwegian one, sorry!). I made these because I was making aioli, and had all those egg-whites left….. :)

grethe1I cut out this card from the paper “sommerhilsen”, sewed it on purple cardstock and cut it w/a patterned pair of scissors, sewed & decorated it some.. found a mini-doily (yay!) & placed it on it.

grethe2

Made the kiddo sign it (bwahah). grethe4

Then wrapped a broad strip of paper on the box.. grethe5

And placed the “card” upon it.  grethe6

Voila – cute hostess-gift! grethe7 sirus1

I had another box – which wasn’t as tall as the other one, so I dropped the lid here. sirus2

Instead I wrapped a broad doily-ribbon around & made a large card to place upon it.

I grabbed a tag & sewed a few pieces of scrap-paper upon & decorated it. Love this vine-paper from Hambly – so versatily and you only need small pieces of it & it makes any project instantly cooler – win! :)

Have fun! :)

thelook

Ha.
Just had to scrap this photo of Amalie giving me “the look”. You know, the “I’m oh, so wronged, woe-is-me-pityful”-look.

thelook_cu1

I made this layout for Pink Paislee’s Monochromatic Monday.  My chosen color? Uh, guess :p
Ps. notice the clear bordersticker? Nice & subtle, no? :)

thelook_cu2

There’s something about this particular kind of patterned paper that makes me want to cut out the motifs and use them as embellishments. thelook_cu3I love these flip journal notes, and the preferred way to use them is layering on a cardstock for a more defined border/edge & sewing around.

Materials used:
Pink Paislee: Queen Bee – lots from its collection, glitter alphas in lemonade,
Other: glimmer-mist, bling, cardstock, sewing machine

Also, I made a quick card for yesterdays Pencil-Lines.
My first one with Elle’s Studio after I received the DT-box. It was truly brimming and made me nervous and I had no idea where to start, so I figured I’d start easy w/this PL-card before getting it on with the real DT-assignments for Elle’s :)

ania195 This is one of her Birthday Cut Outs: a sheet full of tags you can cut out yourself.
What I’ve started to realize (it sounds weird, I know), re. Elle’s is the liberating feeling of deciding what kind of patterned paper you want to use wo giving a second thought about manufacturer (yeah I know, Elle’s do have a few smaller paper-pads). But the feeling of being more my own master when it comes to what to use - It’s pretty cool – I have a bunch of old papers giving me bad conscience- maybe I’ll be able to use them more often from now on! Yay! :D

(Oh, I know I know – not all manufacturers require their DT to use their stuff only – but most require like 60%-75%-as much as possible – and by then it’s much, much easier to just stick to their stuff all the way when creating DT-stuff)

DSC_1357

Materials used:

Elle’s Studio – Cut Outs: Birthday, Date and Place Strips
Making Memory – Patterned paper
Hambly Screenprints – various transparencies
Fancy Pants Designs: buttons, grid-paper
Other: Glimmer-mist, sewing machine, Martha Stewart borderpunch

Have a lovely week! Mine’s full of tough old-fashioned physical work all week :p

ebday1

Did this little mini for the Fancy Pants Designs’ productspotlight on the lovely bracketed Mixed Media Album. I used mostly the Wishful Thinking-collection to decorate it, along with a bit glimmermist for the canvas-front + a few pieces of Hambly in between. The post at FP only showed a few of the images of this mini. Here’s the whole deal:

ebday1a I only used three of the sheets from the minialbum, folding them to make the mini..

ebday2

Here’s the back. I’m normally wary of using photos at the front/back, because they tend to get a bit worn, but I didn’t have enough room inside and I really wanted to add this photo. The muffin is from “Eat my Muffin”, a lovely muffin/cupcake-store downtown. I find their name hilarious, though. *nudgenudgewinkwink* *cough*  ebday3

I tried to stretch the canvas-page to cover the whole mini. It barely do, because the pages insides are so thick both from the material+the additional embellishments. I think it has it’s charm though – a mini which seem to be brimming always looks cool methinks. ebday4

Here’s the first page. The whole mini is about Ellen’s birthday, and I think I used most of the photos I’ve already shared here on the blog. ebday5

Eli! Crocheting! Hrmf! ;p
(but hai, I think that’s the towel she made me! so yay! :D) (This is the corrugated page by the way, but you already noticed, no? :P)

ebday6

Sweet moments ♥  ebday7

Teehee…I saved the yummy Chai-paperbag Marie brought along and so kindly shared :) ebday8

*smile* ebday9

These were supposed to be the pages about the tapas…………! :p ebday10Really enjoyed creating this mini, and I love the shape of this minialbum itself. I think it almost definitely look more cool folded too =)

Ps. Really? This does not look good to me. “Are cameras the new guns?”

DSC_1378

Ps2. Had sleepover-visitors (& baby K! Amalie adores him!!) yesterday, with lots of yummy food. Have to say. He’s not really “baby K” anymore – but a gorgeous, charming & active little toddler. Sigh. So cute. And soon to become a big-bro – looking forward to say hi to the little one :)

Ps3. Received my long-awaited necklace from The Black Apple. Been oogling her jewelleries for a good long while, but she only puts them out occasionally and in small quantities – and I’ve always been a week or two too late for these (I have her blog in my reader, which isn’t always (ok, never) up-to-date – which means I usually read her posts weeks after she’s posted them). Nevertheless. A few weeks ago I finally managed to spot a brand new post, minutes old, hurried to her etsy and ordered myself this necklace:

DSC_1391

Little Red (Riding Hood) in the shape of a brass book! It could not have been a better motif for me – dark-haired girl, just like I was hoping to obtain – and in a book-shape! Yay! DSC_1392 The book is openable – a locket – and I just put my two kids in there. Naturally. This is so gonna be my fave jewellery ever, I can feel it!♥

I’m so happy! :) Love it when it’s an artist you’ve been wanting to get for a while (at least since last summer) and you finally get it and it’s limited quantities and stuff…yay! :)

Here’s the description of the necklace by the way:

Description

This heart image is taken from my painting "Heart & Key".
This collection is the product of a collaboration between the amazing Jewelry-elf Lori (www.heartworksbylori.etsy.com), and myself. Her craftsmanship is incredible and meticulous - and I'm so proud to offer these pieces of wearable, portable artwork.
About these:
The mini-print is processed on a beautiful, slightly metallic paper, which gives the image an opalescent quality. It's a bit difficult to capture in the photographs, but its really somethin' special! The image is nestled in an antique oxidized brass locket which hangs on a brass rolo chain. The image is sealed with a thick, shiny, glass-like resin coating. The chain length is 16" inches, and the pendant itself measures just over 1" round.
The locket is fully functional, and opens up to two empty cameos for your own photos or bits. These openings measure 3/4" around.
Each piece arrives nestled in its own wee kraft box, complete with a pretty paper label!
