~~ Some more layouts… ~~

Let’see… I haven’t shared my Prima-layouts, so here they are.

Honestly, when I create stuff I’m not too happy about, I usually try to create something else to “make up” for it…but experience have shown that oftentimes I get more comments on the stuff I’m not too wild about myself…I dunno..maybe can people see that it wasn’t top notch, and feel sorry for me and comments on it to make me feel better..? Or, most likely (I hope :p) – taste differs. It’s just the way it is. Nevertheless. Above layout is “just ok”. Didn’t really feel it though. But! It feels nice having scrapped the photos (from an open day at the firestation, a yearly tradition around here..think the kid’s been there three times in a row now).

So I created this one with the leftovers….much better imo, and it made me feel better having done a layout I was more happy about... my gorgeous sister & her boyfriend..

sweetlove2

I especially love this little detail: Crackle accents upon the letters. Turned out really cool. And again, love the Hambly overlays – love that one sheet goes a long way – I’ve used this one forever in cards and as accents to layouts. Perfect little details :)

sweetlove3

Love the felt-leaves – so pretty! Adds such a nice touch to any project…here I just used one leaf…but it looks pretty when you use two upon each others too..

Looks yummy... 'tis the season to bake! Oh and I was wondering if you are going to do a december daily type thing?

Uuh, this reminds me that I haven’t turned my February daily-blogthingie into a mini as I intended to do yet…so err, nope. Actually, I’ve tried to do that a few years and fallen short every time apart from last year, which can be found here. Not going to set myself up for another failure this year though when I know I have a lot on my plate before Christmas..am even working this Christmas, yay me.. I do admire those who’s disciplined enough to do one – I know how much it can take. I guess I’ll just try to snap at least one photo every day & turn it into a mini sometime next year. Hmm. Yeah. Will definitely try to snap a photo every day so I have something I can do later when I have a little more time… You gave me something to think about :)

~~ Lefsebaking & a gift for grandma ~~

IMG_3462

Last week, at my days off work, I decided to bake lefse. It’s a traditional Norwegian, hm, I’m not quite sure what to call it actually – not really cake, nor cookie….some kinda…tortillawraps..only..it’s mostly used on the sweet side, rather than for dinner which’s what people think of when thinking of tortillawraps…? (can you say that by the way – think of when thinking of…? :p)

Nevertheless…I’m easily affected I guess, I was talking to & taking photographs of some nice ladies with 55+ years of experience making lefse (for Christmas)….so I was like..hey…that’s easy, I can do that too!

Well..it tasted nice…need to practice the execution though! (but hey, it’s only my 2nd time in my life I’ve baked this, so :) ).

gift1

Nevertheless…..managing to bake this (with my oldest kid nevertheless) made me pretty proud – and with the pride came the thoughts of “darn, wish my grandma lived closer so she could get some taste of this too”.

gift2

Very well! I knew I had at least one of these plastic bags left, found it & created a giftwrap with Imaginisce and Glue Arts.

gift3

Check out the lefse! I used two recipes I found on the web: Askøylefsen (this one tasted the best imo, BUT was a PAIN to bake..broke all the time into smaller pieces :( ) and mormors lefse (I thought I added too much flour in this one, but turned out I needed more nevertheless as it kept sticking to the table when rolling it flat..hmm…more elastic than the askøylefse, but still, easily got holes and stuff in this one)

gift4

Then I needed a card ofc. It was whipped together quick and effortlessly thanks to the cute & inspiring materials from Imaginisce & Maya Road :)

gift5

You have to check out this post where you can get the recipes of gingersnaps as well. I need to try that one out next! :)

~~ Maya Road & Lily Bee Designs Swap ~~

lilybee_web

Psst. There’s a swap thingie going on between Maya Road and Lily Bee Designs – and as a part of the MR dt I’m happy to share my contribution to the blog swap.

Here’s the first blogpost, and here’s the 2nd. There’ll be a new post coming up Friday with your last chance to comment for the giveaway :) And on the Lily Bee-blog there’s more chances to win stuff too!

lilybee_cu1

I’m especially happy because I actually managed to use the zipper trims, which I’ll admit find difficult to use (check out how Shelley used the zippers in her binder in the same MR blogpost as mine! Lovesit!)

lilybee_cu2

And I’m happy because I’ve been wanting to try out Lily Bee papers for a while now, when this chance came along. The papers sure didn’t disappoint! Loved the colors & patterns!

lilybee_cu3

Maya Road products: Microfelt birds - brights, Ledger transparencies - black, Snowflake transparencies - white, Kraft doilies, Jonathan mini chipboard letters, Trinket pins (Crystal Star, Crystals), Blossoms (Alterable Vintage Lace flowers, Light Pink and Dark Pink Felt beaded, Golden Yellow and Turquoise Ruffle Blossoms), Small Organiza Roses ribbon - pink, Sky Blue Zipper Trim, Butterfly chipboard set.

Lily Bee products: Stationery Tangerine paper, Stationery Slushie paper, Head over Heels Dreamy paper

Ps. Thanks for the lovely comment Rosemary, on missing my layouts! Honestly I've been missing creating them myself too…:p But more often than not I’m not satisfied with the layouts I make these days, so I turn to cards instead…to save myself the frustration that ensues. BUT I had fun making this one and felt like making more, so here’s to hoping that feeling will last! =)

~~ Wrap a little gift ~~

cone2

Y’know, giving away little, edible gifts are much more fun when you can dress’em up a little bit, like with this cone of handmade chocolate which was for a friend of mine. Sure, the cone/bag looked pretty enough on it's own, but still…it looked more prettier when dressed up :)

cone3

The papers are actually Fancy Pants Designs – back when I joined their design team, this was one of the first collections I got to work with – and one of my favorites still…lovely patterns & colors…sigh..miss…I think I only have 3-4 sheets left now!!

cone

The chipboard and other embellishments are from Maya Road. And the stamped sentiment on the heart – well, that one’s from Craft Origine and the saying was perfect for this gift :D cone1

Speaking of Maya Road..have you seen this issue- the Maya Road Inspiration Book?

We were challenged to use white background, 6 MR items only and only ONE sheet of patterned paper…

baertur2_small

This is what I came up with =)

_DSC5063

Can’t help it! Love it when little things makes stuff easier…like the cute motifs from the new Blue Sky-papers from 3ndypapir. I was in such a hurry when having to create birthday-cards (I keep telling myself to remember to create a batch of these cards but it keeps slipping away…) for my youngest girl…but with these motifs it’s just like, pick a motif, cut it out..adhere to a piece of glittery cardstock (from Core’dinations), sew it on, attach thickers and slap it on the ubercool apple-papers from the summer-collection of 2010 :)

_DSC5061

And voila…gotta admit I find these cards pretty cute despite the little time invested in them :p

thankyou1

Speaking of cards…here’s another…for Operation Write Home over at the Prima-blog. And guess what…this time I whipped out the überold but übercool Dude-papers from like, 2008 *smirk* Still love that collection! :)

thankyou2

Right.

Allow me to do a little shoutout for the following Norwegian singer-songwriters…this has been a splendid fall, with new albums from each of these following ladies (ok, Marit Larsen is coming with hers on Nov 18th…but she’s already come out with a single from the upcoming album :) )

Maria Mena…she’s FAB live….so,so, so fab…totally makes her lyrics come alive onstage...

Nathalie Nordnes…she just came out with the new album NN. Not the best song on the album imo, but the only one out there on YT it seems…(check out this old duet with Sondre Lerche by the way):

And my absolute fav…Marit Larsen (I’ve even photographed her ;p backstage, for the local paper, but still ;)…she’s fabulously cute live)…and because of the “making of Spark”-vids on YT I totally know I’m so gonna love her new album when it comes out in a week =)

Ps. Happy 11/11/11 =)

See that wooden button peeking behind there? One of my fave embellishments from this Summer’s CHA-stuff from Prima….shame I only have just a very few left, after I used quite a lot on a mini-canvas for CHA..:/

Prima_sketch2011_g

Here’s the sketch, as usual created by Anam – and the link to the Prima BAP-post! The deadline for this one is also Nov 30th :)

~~ Vacation countdown-calendar ~~

Posted by Ania On Tuesday, November 01, 2011 3 lovely comments

WP_ania2

Back before we went to Paris, this little one kept bugging us – when’ll we go to Paris? how many days left?

WPmini1

So, about a month before we actually went – I became fed up with her every day bugging and created her this little calendar, using Websters pages, Elle’s Studio-tags, random bits and pieces and ofcourse – Glue Arts.

WPmini2

It turned out rather chunky, and is bound together with a Bind-it-all.

WPmini3

It works just like a Christmas-countdown-calendar…just..this time we counted down to our vacation..

WPmini4

I perforated the tags, making them easy to rip away for every day…

WPmini5

It’s a great way to get rid of random bits and pieces, and at the same time – you can save the tags and reuse them for cards and stuff afterwards.

WPmini6

Nevertheless..the tutorial on how to create this one is found here.

WPmini7

WP_ania_3

She loved this one for sure, and we didn’t hear much bugging (only her reminding us how many days it was until the vacation, because now she knew ;p)
