Cheers y’all :)
Maybe-not-really-20-something-anymore from Norway who likes to scrapbook and take photos documentarystyle and dreams of photojournalism when not working as a photojournalist and that's pretty much what this blog is about. And I like it this way.
Been scrapbooking since late fall 2005. Currently fortunate enough to be a part of the design teams for Hambly Screenprints, Fancy Pants Designs and Pencil-Lines. ♥

It’s one of my favorite challenges around these days…Prima product picks…I think it’s quite fun to create stuff based on a color palette :)
here’s my January & February PPP :)
Cheers y’all :)
Every month we have a challenge going on over at 3ndypapir, and I’m the one responsible for the September-challenge. It’s 1. Use scraps (I have a long winded explanation as to why on the 3ndyblog – but basically – it’s because I need to purge stuff for the good news, see below :p), and 2. Use at least an old embellishment while you’re at it (mine: the übercool Hambly-rubons).
The prize? Well, it’s brand new papers from 3ndypapir. Yep, that’s right – Gudrun is soon coming out with new collections for 3ndypapir. Check out the peek for the first one, “Blue Sky”:
Such lovely, fun colors, eh? I’m certainly looking forward to this one! You’ll find the full images of every paper in this line in this post.
So. Scraps. I’m too good for my own good at keeping them *sigh*. Hence – thick, hard-to-close-folders loaded with scraps. Also, I’m good at cutting up things then realizing – uhm, I think I changed my mind. A bad trait, I know..Nevertheless…all the different 3ndypapir-lines sort of goes well together here, don’t you think? :)
And old embellishments – I’m trying to remember to use my rubons, as they’re the first to actually “go bad”….all the other stuff can be reglued sorta. Nevetheless. Love the Hambly-rubons and the cute & cool designs :)
Right, what are you waiting for? Have a tiny, little 3ndypapir-scrap lying around begging to be used? Well, GO ON THEN! ;)
I may have mentioned it here a few times already – I intend to stop feeling bad because I..uh..hoard stuff…and instead try to do something with it..so, as I have a fair bit of mostly old Prima stuff in the house, I’ve decided to try join their challenges from now on in order to help me get rid of some of the stash :p So, here’s my take on their January Sketch..(everything but the brad comes from Prima) here.
And here’s a card I made based on their color-challenge. Here I’m especially proud of myself for using the chipboard-star I’ve had in my drawer for oh, so long, combined w/lace-rubons from Hambly…..I actually stamped too (see tag) – no wait, I embossed…!
I love the papers from this collection (I think it was released back in, hm…2007? Or probably 2008..?) – so pretty & lovely..the ribbonbowthingie was premade, originally intended for another project, but then I changed my mind and just had it clutter my desk until figuring that it’d fit this card if I just slapped some flowers&bling on it :p
Pretty, pretty star…(it was originally white – colored it w/glimmer mist then added the rub-ons upon it..)..plus – bonus for actually using at least two whole sheets on this card.
17.02.11:
listening: well, earlier today I listened to my own, recorded voice and damn, that’s so not funny :p
eating: fresh bread w danish salami
drinking: red wine…um, I’ve DESERVED that tonight!
wearing: dark plum-colored sweater, levi’s
feeling: positively exhausted
weather: not as cold as I feared, still cold though and the snow’s still on the streets
wanting: to go to bed now, but I feel like I have to finish this one first :p (I’ll be glad when February is done :p)
needing: someone to massage my back :p
thinking: about tomorrow and Amalie’s hm, what’s it called…inscription? Admission? She’s gonna visit school tomorrow for an hour or so, say hi to her principal and teacher and some of the classmates she’ll get when she starts school this Fall…I’m so looking forward to it..me and my camera both are ;p plus, we’re gonna have some mommy&daughter-time when done..I am thinking…ICECREAM at the mall…or something like that…we’ll see ;p
enjoying: that I’m soon done writing this status-update! :p oh, and spent the afternoon with a former colleague, that’s always lovely :)
wondering: whether to read some before bed, or to just try to get some sleep immediately :p
16.02.11
listening: to Barne-TV in the background :)
eating: Oreo Cupcakes
drinking: coffee
wearing: my “pyjamas”-tshirt (it’s not, but a friend of mine who also has it uses it as pyjamas and teases me when I’m wearing it like, the regular way)…
feeling: happy, having dived into the nostalgia of my youth :p
weather: snow&friggin cold :( (I’ve been freezing on my feet all day – so not a good sign as I think I’ll be sick soon :( )
wanting: to not become sick..
needing: sun..warmth…tea w/honey…sigh..
thinking: no more thinking! My head hurts after trying to work on my online survey (betingede hopp i Opinio, bleh)! And that this free action from MCP Actions, called Mini Fusion is pretty nice :)
enjoying: Reading through the archives of the old website (started in 1995, I think we stopped updating it in 2001-ish) I once had with my friend Kaja: Kajanias gule sider :D (Mostly Norwegian, although we did have a few pages in English as well), and reading one of my earlier papers on gaming (I wrote about “Everquest – identification and identity”)
wondering: If there really’s gonna be a red carpet at tonight Red Carpet opening of “Dra til sjøs” (a boat convention I’m gonna cover for the paper) (edited to add: I didn’t really see a red carpet at the hall I was at, but I think there might have been at the other place..there were free drinks and snacks though, which, when I think of it, might be why people were so extra positive and happy to talk to me *grin*).
Lacey Said,
These are fantastic!! I am definitely inspired to create some of my own to hand off to family & friends with photos taken throughout the year!
Awesome! Please do so, for me personally giving away photos has become a way more enjoyable process /fun thing to do now that I also try to make an effort creating cards/envelopes for the CD.
pattyo Said,
Love your CD holders. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day--homemade bread, tea, knit sweater and snow! I know I'm probably amoung the few that really love the white stuff--I'm definitely a cold weather person.
Say, do you happen to live somewhere warm-all-year-around? If so, can we swap houses? :p (well actually, I don’t stand the too-hot-days either..hm, I’m hard to please :) )
Maya Said,
Natta folkens :)
I’m without my babies for a few days. They needed their yearly check&clean, and I won’t get them back until maybe tomorrow the soonest (yes, I am talking about my cameras :p). The two first images below are therefore taken with my iPhone (the last card was created a few days ago, haven’t gotten around to share it until now).
My mother-in-law asked me to create a birthdaycard for a friend whom she was going to give some hike-stuff for gifts. Looking through my stuff for something hikey-ish I found these Sassafras-papers and decided to use it. It’s created from one sheet of paper, from which I cut out the yellow “sky” and the deer from the scraps and attached them to the front with 3d-foam. A bit busy cover, but I think it works. I’ve also rediscovered liquid pearls. I only have the grey one, and I think I need more!
And here’s my two last contributions to the Moxie Fab Color Challenges, the above is for the Jewelcolor-challenge. I like this colorcombo :) The ledgerpapers looks pretty reddish here, they’re more sand in reality. And the felt flower on the top looks blackish, it’s actually the same color as the purple flower. Ahwell. It’s a good image still considering it’s taken with the iPhone, no? Looking for the right colors in my stash made me mix manufacturers here, something I don’t get to do too often *smile*. The papers here are from Sassafras, American Craft and Making Memories, the felt-flowerfrom American Craft , the button from Fancy Pants Designs and the tag is from Elle’s Studio.
This one was a bit tougher, as it was supposed to be a “metallics” challenge.
I decided that “metallics” could also include glitter :p Hence: Pink glittercardstock from Doodlebug, champagnesandish metallic shimmercardstock from Bazzill and a Scenic Route chipboardheart dressed up in silverwhite sugarglitter from Doodlebug. I even found an epoxysticker from Love, Elsie to place on the card :)
Now excuse me, I have an article to finish, a questionaire to create and last, but not least: My box with the CHA-goodies from Crate Paper has arrived!! Am so gonna dive into some happy scrappy time tonight! :)
Compared to yesterday, today’ll be a lazy Sunday. I’ll just edit some images and write an article or two if I’m effective (but hey, who are we kidding?).
In the meanwhile, here’s my contribution to the “Grey is the new black” challenge over at Moxie Fab. I’ll admit, I don’t have many (if any) grey papers in my stash, and I don’t stamp nor use cardstock much, so what to do? Pull out the Pink Paislee “Parisian Anthology”-collection and paint it lightly with Graphite glimmermist so it’ll turn a gorgeous, uneven grey hue and slap this fabric flower, also from the same line, on it, duh. Ta-dah, or something like that.
And then we have this little trio of gifts, also created with Pink Paislee – this time with the “Starlight”-collection. It’s a box of chocolate, a CD-envelope and a miniwrap. Read what the chocolate box is saying?
This is what it reads when you open it (I love to think I’m so clever ).
This is my contribution to Sukkersøtt, a Norwegian challenge-blog which’s atm is about decorating chocolate-boxes .
Speaking of Pink Paislee, have you seen what they are coming out with this CHA? Their peeks starts this coming week, but from what I have seen on their web and from the House of 3 and Tattered Angels collaboration - I’m so so so bummed I’m not on their team anymore, because this stuff will certainly ruin me when it’s out in the stores!!! *soft sigh*
And then you have Crate Paper, which I’m so relieved I’m on the team for because.. look at these two last peeks! And check out their blog for the full reveals, the samples from the team are simply amazing! Here they all are..:
I believe Portrait will be my total fave (but I’ve been wrong before)…
Emma’s Shoppe will most surely become the 2nd fave (it’s girlie but not too girliepinkpink, and with darling patterns and colorpalettes).
And Neighborhood looks so sweet and mellow :)
And toy box, the dark horse which, after having seen the full collection on the Crate blog, will most surely be used a lot in this home!
To see the full collections AND have a chance to win them yourselves, head over here for Portrait and Neighbourhood and here for Emma’s Shoppe and Toy Box!
Have a lovely Sunday
Lol, I know – it’s pink, more pink, then..uh..I’m not quite sure….totally pink? :p
Just wanted to share a pink card I created. Now, normally I’d probably not make a pink card. Hm. I know I most likely wouldn’t – not like, all pink, at least. It’s so cliché. But. Challenges, you know?
Oh yeah, another one of Moxie Fab’s color-challenges…I wonder if I’ll actually get to finish them all within the timeline? Three down, three to go afaik. Life’s bit busy atm, working on questionnaire-drafts for my MA (it’s NOT as easy as I thought! I have to be short, precise and I feel the need to over-define the meaning of words I’m using in the questionnaire to make sure to prevent misunderstanding of concepts and blah blah, especially for the online survey-part) and freelancing for the local newspaper…but hey, – I enjoy this life so far :)
Nevertheless, here’s the three pink colors we were supposed to work with..mm…(it’s adhered to the gift, which’s kraftwrapped, so please ignore the kraft part for this challenge) the paper’s from Pink Paislee’s Sweetness-collection, a scrap I had lying around here – letters from Fancy Pants Designs, and the flower from Prima. The stamp is an all time favorite, the only one I kept of all my wood-mounted stamps (because let’s face it, I so suck at using stamps) because I knew I’d reuse this one at least…it’s hm, Anna Griffin if I’m not too mistaken. Loves.
So long, gotta continue working! :)
Ps. I changed the threads I’m using on my sewing machine, with a thicker thread – now it’s so much more visible and I love it! Give thicker threads a try yourself too, if you haven’t yet :)
Oh, and before I leave…check out these peeks from Crate Paper!
This is the boy-line…see the neutral alphabetpaper (I assume! I haven’t seen this collection myself, as it’s on its way overseas atm!) ? Lovesit! Am not too sure about the army-stuff, whether it’s actually patterned with these motifs or if it’s just for the AD, as personally my kid doesn’t play with that, but we’ll see – I totally approve of the colorscheme!
And this is apparently the girl-line – hello insta-love! Yes, please!
There’s two more lines to be revealed, keep a close tab on the Crate-blog for these in the next few days!
Hm well, I’m afraid I’m leaving you with no choice ;p
(I’ll share two or three layouts in my next blogpost, I promise)
Nevertheless, my little missy is celebrating the birthday of her friend atm, and I noticed this card was posted on the Scrapbook Trends blog (for their felt challenge), so I figured it was about time to post this one now.
Created with Fancy Pants Designs & their Frosted line, along with flowers from Prima and Petaloo and decorated generic pins (the leaf one is from Maya Road). The felt heart is from Fancy Pants by the way. I so need to be better at using my felt stuff, they’re so adorable to decorate with.
This is how the ground outside looks atm by the way – wet, hard, slippery ice – ugh. So not looking forward to have to drive out this pathway onto the roads..but I have to :(
Do you like paperdolls?
I think they are cute, but tbh am so not really sure how to use them – my girl do play with dolls, but not that much (she plays more with her littlest pet shop and other animal-toys). Nevertheless, when I saw this Moxie Fab Challenge using these pastel-colors (below), I figured I could create a card with a paperdoll on it. (Two of the colorchallenges down, might as well tackle the two remaining ones?)
The flowers and base of the cards are from Prima, the polka-dot paper from MME (one of my favorites I’ve been holding on to for oh, so long – but no more – it’s time to use stuff!), and the paperdoll is from 3ndypapir – I cut out the girl and found a dress in the right colors and cut it out for her to use *smile*
I sprayed the flowers with Tattered Angels’ chalk white glimmermist, in hopes it would lighten the color of the flowers and make them more pastel, but no such luck – it gave the flowers a cool, icy & frosty look though (not easy to see in the image).
Now, I’ll just wait until I know who will get this card before adding name/sentiment to the card. I still am not good at that – creating cards with generic sentiments – it doesn’t really feel right, I like my cards to have a personal message on the cover, even if it’s just the name or age of whoever’s getting it. I do have a vague idea who it’ll be for, but we’ll see if I can come with a better card or if I’ll use this one for her…:)
Speaking of 3ndypapir?
LOOK at these sneakpeeks of “Sweetheart”! I’m getting giddy only by looking at the peeks – such lovely, romantic, shabby look for the new collection soon to arrive – YEY!
A quick look at my 2011-scrapbooking folder tells me I’ve created 5 cards so far, 3 bookmarks and only two layouts. Hm.
Here I was inspired by the Moxie Fab Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week: The Bright and Bold challenge – they have since come out with two new color-inspirations, I think I’ll try these too.
I took a slice of white bazzill-cardstock, grabbed some brads in the challengecolors (black, white, pink, orange) and this Fancy Pants Designs rub-on from a Halloween-collection (Trick or Treat I think it was called). Not my usual style, but I really like this one and want to try perfect this style, at least include it when it comes to creating cards. However, the problem when I do these cards once in a while is that I feel I can’t give them away or stuff, because I “feel” people expect more from me, that you need to put more things on the card to make it seem worthwhile. Anyone else feeling that way too?
Nevertheless, seen the happy news? :) I’m sincerely delighted to have been asked to stay for another term with Crate Paper (and there’s a peek of the new collections in the image, and I love reading 10random things about the other designers too :) ).
And yes, I do notice that I’m not on so many design teams now as I used to – I get restless quicker and perhaps that’s why I’ve thrown myself at these online challenges atm? I really need to have “something” to scrap for – I’ve always had it that way ever since I started scrapbooking – it’s not enough to “just” scrap, it preferably needs to fulfil something else too – a DT-commitment, a challenge, a contest – something to spark the initial start of the project itself. Hmm!
Seems like whenever I’m fairly ahead of the DT-deadline-schedule (because I know there’ll be busy times ahead), I just get antsy when I don’t really have much to scrap like, now, so I just look for challenges and stuff to do. Which is good I guess, because when I haven’t done non-DT-challenges in a good while I get a bit sad.
I cleaned up my stash the other day but could not bear to part w/these Basic Grey-papers (I did get rid of a few though, yay me!), and filed them away under “oughta-scrap-with-soon-when-poss”. Well, when seeing the newest Skissedilla-sketch #81, with sketch by Brit, I figured I’d just join in w/these papers & that photo :)
It was tough to cut into that orange paper – it’s so gorgeous – but I knew that if I didn’t it’d just stay in my non-DT-paperstash and, well, gather dust.
So I cut into it a lot :p I even found some old fruitcake-letters haha :p
Here’s the image by the way, plus an extra – I wanted to take some shots here at night, but didn’t want to go alone, so brave Eli joined me – and to my surprise, her husband did too, which’s great, cuz he had this van w/a sorta upside-backdoor that sheltered my camera from the heavy rain and he braved the rain to light up the statue for me while shooting. Couldn’t have done these shots w/o these two!
It’s still Fall Break here, so yesterday I decided to just grab the kiddo & go downtown with him. MKay, I might have seen something about some fun foot-thingie going on here on Twitter which contributed to that decision, but...
Some kind of Guiness record attempt req. passerbys to join, paint their feet & walk around.. kiddo didn’t want to first, so I had to have a go at it since they already counted him (but not me cuz I said I was just there to take piccies of the kiddo :p).
After seeing me in action though, he changed his mind (again) and wanted to try.
Our conclusion: WET and COLD and slightly fun :) We could do as many imprints as we wanted to, so here’s ours (dang his feet are growing so big :p)
I love orange. Why didn’t we do orange?? :(
Just look at this lovely color..
Here’s the info about the project (in Norwegian :p)
When done, we decided to check out the “Press Play”-exhibition. Here’s the Adrian waiting for dad to finish yesterdays lectures so he could join us for the exhibition. Hm, have to say it’s smaller than I expected and that sure, I liked the graphics & images exhibited, but I dunno….I did expect more sorta, although I’m not sure what more…. More concept art (including models and stuff?), little more on reasonings...?
Ahwell, we got the chance to explore the other parts of the museum while there (they had a huge part w/art and stuff from China, the history of design and a jewellery/silver-collection), which was quite enjoyable :) And then we went and had sushi (well, us grownups had sushi, Adrian had hot dog, but tasted sushi for the first time ever and decided it wasn’t that shabby). I’m annoyed that I didn’t take pictures of that :/
Right. Time to try do something sensible today – got lots of texts on Bourdieu I need to go through :(
~Sasha Farina~ Said,
now where's my kinder bueno? :P
Right here, and I’m gonna EAT it! Bwahaha :p
mo9ca Said,
