~~ Cards! ~~

Posted by Ania On Sunday, June 29, 2008 6 lovely comments

Okay, let me start with declaring - I am NO CARDMAKER!!
I feel stupid when making cards - I know - it feels like - when you're a scrapper youre also supposed to like, excel at cardmaking. Ohwell. But for this pencillines sketch I thought it would be fun to translate it into a card (and I needed a card ;p) - so here's three cards....the finished one is the one most resembling the sketch..the two others sprung out from that one cause I wanted to finish the whole paper (one 12x12 yields three 4x6 cards :) ). So next time I need a card for some kiddo-bday all I have to do is to add his name or age to the card and voila :)

LOVE this Scenic Route paper...so very cool for boy-cards...and the Sassafras UFO & rockets..simply perfect to cut out as embellishments for such stuff! I totally heart that paper - I think I need more of it so I can like, well, cut out more stuff!

The bathroom, that is. Or well, the two walls we're renovating atm.
Tiles are up on one wall now. Tomorrow we'll do the other wall. Or well. My husband will do the other wall :p I'm guessing two maybe three more days before everything's ready and good to use. Yay. More photos below for whoever's interested.

Today (or well, at this hour of the night it's rather - yesterday) we were sponsed by Bad Girls kits over at Scrappedugnad - Tracie guested & challenged us to use ribbons! Here's my layout made with the June-BG kit. Love these vivid colors against white :) The winner will get the same June-kit from Bad Girls - now how's that for a prize??? :D The deadline is July 4th - so chop chop get started!! :D

Speaking of Bad Girls.. July is the anniversary...and as an extra special treat for y'all there'll be FREE classes from the DT throughout the month at the message board..there'll be pressies.....there'll be scrappy stuff to do....in short..there'll be lots of fun! I think all the news will be posted here. Oh and the above is yet another peek from the July-kit. Seriously, loved this month so much, can't wait to share it all with you!!

..why the heck did I not think of this before!?!?!?????
I was doing yet another "save for web" clicking on file looking for "save for web" and hitting "revert" for the blah blah time when I was thinking...darn...why the .... can't there be a keyboard-shortcut for this just like in the games (usually you can map the spells/skills you use most frequently) when it hit me..... D O H. There probably is!!! Stupid stupid me!!! Looking in help I found out - double d o h. It's in Edit-> Keyboard Shortcuts. HELLOO??? Did it really say "keyboard shortcuts"?? I've been using the "Edit" dropdownthingie like every day and never ever glanced at the bottom of it? Where have I been living at!???? Triple d o h. SO YAY! Now my F1-4 is as following: Levels, curves, save for web, image size :D Four of my most used actions. And now that I think of it I know I have mapped my kelby-actions long time ago without even thinking it could apply to stuff like this - my most used directions!

Ok ok ok! Apologizes in advance cause this is probably one of the most basic, well-known things in Photoshop that everybody but me knew about but to me this was a HUGE relevation and a HUGE timesaver!!!! YAY!!!! *happy dance* :D
(yes I'm easy to please.... when it comes to photoediting ha ha ;p)

Oh, and because there can't be a post without photos (most of the time anyways), here's another peek for the upcoming Julykit at Bad Girls ;p

According to scientists they have now found out that Odysseus arrived home and performed his revenge, slaughtering his wife's suitors at April 16th 1178 B.C. due to solar clues. They take the correct observations of these clues as a sign that the story - at least part of it - is true. Good. Now, I loved reading Homers "Odysseus" BUT one thing friggin annoyed me with this story (and the other greek stories I read) -- Odysseus is no stranger of cheating and stuff having had himself with what, at least two different women, I cannot recall more (it's been a few years since I read the book) - and his wife - the story states that she was persistent, resisting her suitors and stuff - but - these suitors all thought he (Odysseus) was dead no?? So what wrong did they really do (other than being rude and persistent to his wife whom they thought were a widow) to deserve being slaughtered down? Hrmf. Egos. Bet he wouldn't have liked it if the wife went ballistic on Kirke whom he loved for years when away from his wife?? Reminds me of this lil thing I wrote back then when I was reading these kind of books and got so annoyed...(in Norwegian). Oh men! :p (and yes yes yes..it's all really about power and about his land and wealth and whatever and not really "just" his wife but still :p)

Right.
Luxe is showcasing their DT and yesterday was my turn. They picked one of my layouts for june - the one with Xstine and Trude Julie at the beach in Stavanger :) Love Luxes' simple lines - esp the pink polkadot one (the simple pink line is TEH BOMB! :D I think that and capri are my faves till now :D).

Ps...is it just me or is the quality of the stuff I am uploading to blogger these days really really really fuzzy??? :( Hm yeah. The next photo looks fuzzy as hell too - please tell me it's just me who's seeing the piccies fuzzy?? :(

Jeje. Was at a crop last night - love the energy and atmosphere at the crops here. I didn't bring my camera with but luckily Marie did and well, I'm a sucker for photosessions *wink* - so I kinda ushered everybody out and into this phonebooth for fun...*whistle* (hey..that was fun no? =) Thanks for being so sporty ladies & thanks for bringing the camera Marie ;) ) And yes I'm the one climbing the phonebooth. *cough*

Usually I just sit and stare on the table in front of me and sigh and well, end up with one unfinished layout after a crop...but yesterday I had just gotten my Bad Girl kit for July and well, I needed to play with it so I actually did three unfinished layouts! Woah! Ofcourse...the main thing I needed was my sewing-machine at home so I just put down the basics of the layouts - but really - it was fun really feeling this kit - it's gorgeous - I totally loved it -- July is Bad Girls first anniversary, and there's a LOT of stuff planned at the message boards -- the main celebration being focused at the weekend of 4th-6th July and with free classes being posted all month (ok I don't know if Im supposed to tell right yet so shh you didn't see anything and NOT from me!!!!!). Um right. Where were I? Um, the crop. Well, went home a bit early to help my husband continuing on the bathroom - painting the walls smurf-blue. Fun :p Today we're continuing the bathroom - more blue "paint" (it's some kind of plasticky thing) and then we'll start tiling the walls methinks. I dunno. I just help out the boss :p

Oh and shh. =) Again. You saw nothing!

~~ Luxe Gossip ~~

Mmmm CHA. Love this time of the year. Or well, these times of the year considering it's twice a year and most manufs hit us with new, fab stuff. And not so fab. But I prefer to think of the fab ones =)

And it's extra thrilling to be a part of a manuf. DT and to get to know the scoop before most others. Kinda fun =) Luxe is gonna revamp the website - shortly before CHA I believe, or at least shortly after it - if this peek is anything like the newly designed site then it sure looks promising no? I am looking forward to it for sure....then I finally will be able to show some of the stuff I've done with/for Luxe as they will be sporting a brand new gallery along with the site :) Speaking of the site - they are running a 20% sale atm :)

And here's a peek of one of the new lines...calendarstuff! Yay! Really looking forward to get to see these irl, from the looks of it I think this will be one of my faves.....I am SOOO itchin' to cut out these totally cool circles!! :)

Scrappedugnad has gotten a new member by the way - lovely Kine!! Have admired her ever since her QK-days - she was the first Norwegian I knew about who was on a "big" DT and I was like "oooh Norwegians can!". She's one of the first Norwegian scrappers who blogged too - she's a great inspiration - I don't "do" her style but I find it so intriguing and fascinating....she does what she can like noone else...always lots of journaling...always superb mix of papers...often quirky stuff (love!!)..lots of details...love her quotes and titles and the way she's thinking :) And her cards!!! *faint* I'm lucky to have one of her cards...two actually...they're amazing.... so...I am very happy to see Kine with us at Scrappedugnad :) (yep..gushing done.. just really like Kine is all :) And now...if I ever meet her I'll so be blushing & hidin' :p)

This is what we are dealing with at the homefront for the moment being. No shower, no bathing...for a few days...hopefully only a few days...we went to buy tiles yesterday and today we'll buy the stuff that's supposed to be on the wall..like, behind the tiles :p (exciting I know :p)

~~ It's oh so quiet ~~

Posted by Ania On Sunday, June 22, 2008 3 lovely comments

Quiet weekend.
It's been raining, and the kids has mostly been indoors. Mostly. Occassionally they like to sneak out and jump on the trampoline despite the rain and wetness (at sunny/non-rainy days they like to bring their own buckets of water, did I mention this already?? Weirdos!). Which results in immediate hot tub-baths for them when done. With the husband gone this weekend too (this time for a bachelor/stagparty for a childhood friend whose wedding we'll attend later this fall) I've gotten around to do a lot of crafty stuff while drinking wine and watching Weeds. Perfect evenings. YAY!

Todays Pencillines is a simple layout - whipped out some old papers (MME & American Crafts) paired with Fancy Pants, Hambly and Prima. As most children (I assume), the little one is quite into phones - when it rings she usually thinks it's grandma calling, hence she wants to talk in the phone too. So when it turns out to be salesmen or people from the practice or whoever calling she gets disappointed because she still doesn't get why she can't speak on the phone when we're done too. So sometimes we call up again from the cellphones so she gets to talk a lil too. Guess that's why it takes her so long to realize & accept when a phonecall isn't for her :p

OKay.
Short post.
Because I just found something disgusting. And I say that as IMHO. I don't find it amusing or see the funny thing in it. I sure agree with the blogposter - the WTF award goes to...

High Heels for Babies

The promopicture at the bottom of the post just made me feel sick...white trash babies anyone?
(and yeah I guess - the name implies that it's a funny thing, not to be taken seriously (heelarious).... but fine I guess I'll be the prune in all this)

~~ Silly Friday ~~

Inspired by Eli's gorgeous cards at Scrappedugnad...I decided on a whim..alright...the teachers needs a lil gift for the Summer :p So. Candy wrapped in some paper & w/cards stuck to'em.
7gypsies, Basic Grey, Prima, MME, Websters pages.

At the gamer-forum I'm at there's a (mostly) funny thread with piccies and stuff, and as I have little to share of my own these days I thought I'd share some of my faves (Hm. It was hard finding the least offensive ones ;P) Hrm -- blogger minimizes them automatically, so just click on them if you wanna look at the bigger versions I guess..

And I've been tagged by Lene and Marianne Hope, so here we go:

Answer the following 5 questions:

Her er reglene:"Hver person svarer på spørsmålene om seg selv. I slutten av innlegget gir du det videre til 6 andre personer og fører opp navnene deres. Så legger du igjen beskjed i bloggen deres, om at de er blitt tagget og ber dem lese din blogg. La personen som tagget deg vite det når du har lagt inn svar."

Rules: Answer the following 5 questions in your blog, then mention 6 other friends to get tagged, leave a message in each friends blog that they have been tagged, incl. the one that tagged you.

1) Hva gjorde du for 10 år siden? What did you do 10 years ago?

I had just moved to Bergen (on my own!) to study at the University (funnily enough I'm still stuck here!). I met my husband at the first party we hosted and we soon became an item (OMG. We've been together for ten years. YIKES!). I was playing FR Mud - a textbased MMO game.

Mention 5 things you had on your "todo list" today. (ok I wrote this yesterday so :p)

Did the final doublecheck on the files and burned a CD for "Vi Scrapper"
Sent a box with the CD and some more to said magazine.
Finished a layout.
Make cards for the teachers inspired by Elis cards for Scrappedugnad (ongoing!).
Bake muffins for the kiddos last day at school tomorrow (ongoing!)

3) Snack jeg liker. Snacks I like.

Uhm. Well I like Kims French Fries.

4) Ting jeg vil gjøre som milliardær. Things I would do as a billionair.

Buy myself a D3 w/ a nice arsenal of lenses. Buy a compactcamera for my oldest son. Oh, and the usual boring stuff. Pay off loans, fix the house, put a lil nice gift/fund for our closest, life off the rents :p

5) Steder jeg har bodd. Places I have lived.

Seoul. Oslo. Bergen. Askøy.

Have a nice weekend :)

Oh, and I got these news in the middle of a %&¤%&¤%% battle with my sewing machine. Which is for the moment Very Non-Cooperative. As in. No moar sewing for me for now. GAH!

Thank god for scrapping neighbours who lets you come & use their utilities so you won't miss any deadlines!!

~~ New Pencil-Lines :) ~~

Love 6x12. Love this layout. LOVE DUDE! Not sure why but it seems like taking piccies outside really gets the red hue saturated. Boggle. Ohwell. This is for Pencil-Lines #89 :)

Materials include: PP: American Crafts, Prima and Luxe, Transparencies: Hambly, Stickers (Scenic Route), Bazzill thread, Making Memories stickers.

Have been alone this weekend, my husband drove 7 hours to attend his cousins new babys' Christening. I so wish I and the children could join them (he drove with his mother and brother) - but alas - driving for 14 hours total in two days with the kids - nuh-uh... *sigh* Hope we get to see the little boy this summer too - he's too adorable on piccies.
Ahwell - we have been enjoying ourselves, me and the kiddos, making smarties-and-oreo-milkshake and watching Cinderella 3 on the Disney Channel (say, what's wrong with just making a new movie instead of doing stupid prequels??). The kids have also been jumping on the trampoline despite the rain and chilliness yesterday and today they brought several buckets with water to pour on the trampoline so they could jump and get wet at the same time - weirdos.... ahwell, kids :p Kinda miss my camera - I let my husband borrow it :p (ofcourse I saw a number of photooppotunities here now that I don't have my cam...figures!)

In addition to listening to Jason Mraz all weekend I've also found some old lovely songs, like Dolly Partons "Coat of many colors" (so beautiful!) and Marilyn Monroes "Bye bye baby" (sooooo loved that movie when I was a child :) ). Also on repeat: Duffy (I'm scared, Warwick Avenue) and Scarlett Johanssons "Falling Down" which is actually pretty good (but also the only song I really liked from her..for now anyways :p).

Anyways. Feel free to check out "Bye bye baby" below, from the movie "Gentlemen prefers blondes" - love Marilyn Monroe, totally love her voice (so soft & silky & girlish & mesmerizing .. and her look and all that - love the soft expressions on her face - so full of emotions) and love how they duoed her and Jane Russel in this movie.

~~ Scrappedugnad & 3ndypapir ~~

Yay!!! Have been waiting for today for a while -- 3ndypapir kindly agreed to sponsor us at Scrappedugnad and here is my layout - made with Gudruns gorgeous papers from "Sommerhus 08" :) :) So sweet and summery - really makes you think of romantic vintage cottages :) Love the paper with journalingspots..I cut them out and used them as frames for my photos, which are from the preparations to 17. mai - the Norwegian Constitution Day - we celebrated at our place so mother in law insisted on helping us buying & planting flowers (and a herb!!) for us...with good help from the children ofc. ;)

Used a lot of glossy accent, crackle paint, glimmer mist (Pearl). Papers from 3ndypapir, Hambly & American Craft (the firefly), flowers from Prima, Bazzill and stuff, vintage paper, ribbons & sewing. Our task was to use 7 diff flowers, four of them handmade/customized )

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Last boring PC-post I promise :)
Spent too many hours today trying to reinstall various programs today. Was supposed to get a few things on my to-do-list knocked off but nooooo, I had to spend time adding necessary programs. Just some small programs left to do - but they're not too important so will do them later. Testing to see if editing looks okay with this PC. Does the colors of this peek from tomorrows dugnadlayout look ok?? I am slightly hesitant as to edit my unedited photos now or not...considering I am so unsure of the calibration of this monitor..eek...please tell me if the colors really look off or not in future postings :p

~~ Sharing..my fave artist atm... ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, June 11, 2008 1 lovely comments
So. My PC is up and running but experiencing some occasional problems..which should be troubleshooted & hopefully eliminated soon... the graphic-card (GeForce 8800GT) is performing okayish I guess, although it keeps getting pretty heated up when running Age of Conan...which is solved by upping the fans performance a bit higher than the manufactured 25% (Atm it's running okayish at 60%). Age of Conan...well...it's playable for sure, just reached level 20 and got out from the newb island ready to play in the "real world" ...we'll see how this goes :) In the two days I have played I have fallen in the water like four times and gotten stuck three times, once so stuck that even the /stuck command didn't work so I had to gate....my husband thinks it's an amazing feat of mine cause he's been playing this game for a few weeks already and just doesn't get how I do that :)

Anyways. I *think* the calibration of the monitor went well in the end (I am using Spyder2Express for calibrating), but as I still haven't gotten my PS over on this PC I can't tell for sure yet.. I miss editing!! Have so many piccies that awaits......

Ohwell. Such a boring post - sorry! It's just that I like to share whats on my mind and right now it's that ;P

So - I just discovered Jason Mraz - well, I saw him appearing on MAD tv a few years ago, noted that I liked his style but never checked him out closer kinda, but now I have and YAY I love him!! He has a new album out - "We sing, we dance, we steal things" and he's actually in Norway July 4th (In Oslo - BUMMER!!!!!!!). I love love love these songs of his; "Lucky" (beautiful sweet and mellow duet with Colibe Caillat), "I'm yours" (quirky and funky) and the old song "Wordplay" (even more quirky...upbeat..love the musicvid :D) (also, check out "Geek in Pink").

Below are some YouTube vids of the abovementioned songs :) Do check them out.....enjoy :)

~~ Sunday & Pencil-Lines ~~

Ahh...the last few days have been really really hot. Have been enjoying the sun - I've never been one for heat (I hate being too hot. I hate freezing too. Take those crazy English girls - I never quite got why they were running around outside in barely no clothes, certainly no jacket and with stilettos as if it was summer in the middle of rainy november nights. Like...you can hang off your coats inside the nightclubs no? :p), but this heat comes with lovely breezes so it's not that bad, not in the shadows anyways. Scrapping outside is lovely - as long as I remember bringing enough tools to keep the lighter stuff on the table and not flying around!! :P Today however hasn't been as hot and sunny as the last few days, and it's fairly windy...a refreshing change :) The kiddo has been running around with friends all weekend - sleeping outside in a tent, bathing with pals at their pools and so on and so on. Amalie is pretty content being at home as long as I join her in the trampoline when she feels like jumping & taking the odd trip to the playground :)

Anyways. Pencil-Lines #88. Sketch by Regiane Santos, an incredible talented scrapper from Brazil. LOVE Rouge de Garance :) So colorful :) Not sure why the prima-papers doesn't show as colorful as it is irl in this photo when the rest of the layout's pretty vibrant. Weird. Anyways. Tracie showed me some of her recent creations and I fell in love with 6x12 again so hence this format ...it's been a while since I did that format!!

Materials include: Rouge de Garance, Prima and Love, Elsie.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend..and oh, thanks for the comments on the new header...and yeah, that's me in it (why would I want some stranger on my header :p) :)

[warning...geekstuff]
As for myself I am getting a brand new PC very soon - a necessity if I am to play AoC (and I don't mind otherwise (apart from wishing the money could be spent on a D300), my old PC only has like what, a measly total of 35gb avail space left and running Photoshop could be quite a patience at times with limited space/memory (I upgraded to 2gbRAM about a year ago but it didn't make any diff - so I am suspecting the bottleneck being something else, like the processor??). Here my husband is trying to assemble the computer - we'll see later tonight if it all works fine.. we counted a total of five!! fans for this PC....cool! I can even purchase an own series of fans for the RAM if I want to hehe.. Crossing fingers that my sucky freeze-frame-bug in the summer-heat will be history!! (I've been forced to open the case having a reg. fan fanning into it at times :p) Among the specs are...if anyone wants to know.....Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz, 4gb RAM, 750gb HDD, new graphcard (GeForce 8800GT 512MB)..new cabinet... new motherboard.. bout time...as my old's been patched every few years since like, the 90's ...besides......the dreaded BSOD has been a regularity the last few months, twice only the last week so yeah, really bout time as much as I'm using the computer :p Oh, and my kiddo will get mine as his is totally broken and has been for a few months now :p My hubby also needs a new PC but he was content with a new graphcard (same as mine) for now and I love him for thinking I should get a new PC first :) :) :)

Ps. Check this link out. It's cartoons from the earthquakes in China in May, from real stories (some of them are quite amazing - are they really real?? Do check out the accompanying interview the cartoonist did with some paper). Found this link via Neil Gaimans blog. Personally I cannot fanthom such catastrophes (China, Burma), the implications and the impact they have.. it's too unreal to me...I mean....like 80.000 dead or missing...over 15million lost their homes from this earthquake...that's like, three times the population in Norway (which's like 4.7mill)...some areas even lost entire generations of children..trying to grasp this gives me the chills...:( (Here's NY Times coverage of this btw)

~~ New header ~~

Posted by Ania On Friday, June 06, 2008 11 lovely comments

Yeap. New header. Thanks to Eli who helped me take this photograph on weds ;) Other credits include Jennifer Pebbles for the nice digibrackets or whatever they're called, and the fonts 1942 report and Vinyl George :) Figured I needed a new header that was more summer-y ..tho it's a bit dark still :p Lemme know what you think..too grungey? Too green?

In other news..still hot over here...scrapped outside today....that was nice..also, some photos from our new jumping-thingie trampoline (edited: thanks for the help!) - my stephfather bought this for the kids right before he and mom left back home. Thank you so much!!! So hard taking nice photos of the kids jumping but something tells me I'll get lots of practice this summer ;p

~~ Nrgh I'm so stupid ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, June 04, 2008 5 lovely comments
The last few weeks have been quite busy, with surgery and reading and various deadlines and stuff, so I totally totally forgot all about the ongoing swap at Minneriket - a dessert-swap...22 ladies swapping different reciepes for desserts that is. Cr*p! The deadline for that one was uh, like two days ago or so, and I haven't even started. And to top it off - the picture I intended to use is apparently deleted - I checked all my photos from the last three months twice...gah! I remember thinking the photos looked pooh and getting an idea for a new photosetup, so apparently I must have deleted the old photos and never got around to take the new ones...so today a little emergency shopping is on the todo-list so I can take a photo for the swap and get started....good thing I am hitting a crop tonight so I can get this done and ship the stuff tomorrow!! And nice nice nice ladies waiting for me..eek! (Ok Im not the only one who hasn't shipped my stuff yet but I am fairly sure I am the only one who haven't started creating yet!! Ugh!)

Speaking about swaps...while desperately looking for the dessert-photo (oreo-milkshake :p) I came across this photo of another swap...alpha-ATC. Should be getting this one in return next week or so - can't wait!! My alphas were "t" and "h" (duh ;p) - lovelovelove making atcs!!

And talking about ATCs....love this format.....here's another old ATC I found (am fairly sure I haven't shared this one before either)...made this for a dear friend..with momiji stickers & recycled momiji cardstock from the momiji I got some weeks ago ...so perfect for this friend who's crazy for Momijis!! :D

Alright!! Better get started on the preparations for tonights crop! :) This will be my chance to get a shitload of scrappy stuff done! I aim for a full swap and maybe two layouts.............we'll see...I don't really have a great record of getting things done at crops...:p

Oh, and I got a honorable mention at the NSD contest over at Pubcalls, jejj! :)

~More stuff!
This book was made after Gloria Froeses AMAZING class over at Bad Girls - make a DIY-book, LOVELOVELOVESIT! I gave this one to my mom and I used a bind-it-all to make the papers inside - once it's used it can be swapped out for a new one by loosening the ribbons. I also added this to the Scrappedugnad-challenge, which was to make storebought tags (from clothes etc). Mine has a bit of paint on the edges - love the dimension it gives to stuff!!

And last nights Pencil-Lines - made it using the BG June kit. If you check out the Bad Girls site you can see that the same sketch is used in a challenge where the prize is a 3month subscription to Bad Girls!! WOAH!!!!!!! All you have to do is to use the June kit and do the sketch! :D Love this photo fo AMalie and her cousin...they insisted on sleeping in the same bed and promised to sleep..ha ha ha...they were little pixies giggling and doing silly things and hiding under the stairs and god knows what - in the end we had to separate them to make them sleep!!! Heheeee....cute :) Miss her cousins around!!

The Bad Girls junekit went live last night - here's my project this month. Personally I'm not too satisfied w/my stuff, too averageish layouts methinks, but ohwell. Can't be on top all the time eh? :p Besides, the other ladies stuff this month more than weights up for my dorky stuff this month :D I am soon done with my urgent-to-scrap-list - then I'll finally indulge in the classes at Bad Girls - they are FANTASTIC!! These girls are so so so fabulous....really, do take a peek, you won't regret! A cute bird-house-template by Tracie...Iris wonderful frame...Sri's totally lovely box... Glorias amazing DIY-album..Jenis wicked cool coasterbook...and so on and so on and so on....!!
