~~ Norwegian Grand Prix Arendal 2009 ~~

Posted by Ania On Thursday, July 23, 2009 2 lovely comments
Ahhh!!
Finally home again after close to two weeks on the road - first to my mom in Oslo to get rid of the kids (*wink wink*), then off to Arendal to volunteer for Norwegian Grand Prix, an offshore-racingthingie (which we attended last year aswell) along with hubbys basketball-team & friends, then off to Kristiansand to meet mom&the kids and to drop by Dyreparken (where we met another scrapbooker - LaTunata - who recognized the kids&me :D) and then finally back home.

I've got quite a large number of photos to share - pretty much 'cause I suck at the culling thing...splitting'em up some, below are the photos from NGP in Arendal...

By the evening..
And by night..
Our first day started off fairly dramatic - at the meeting-place our boss yelled to us "There's been a fire, follow me!!" and just drove off and we were like, "Uh, fire?? Eh? Really??"
When we arrived the firemen were leaving - the fire was extinguished, there were still some smoke and the smell was thick in the air - and we were promtly put to save the pallets of gear from the warehouse and into the awaiting truck.

Our basket-boss to the left - Per Morten - and our construction-boss at NGP - Giska - to the right. He was our boss last year too, so it was great to serve him once again this year :) Fun fact - he's also the prez of the bikerclub Freedom Hunters in Arendal. Cool!

Before we could start on some tents we needed to get rid of some cars which were parked in the middle of the area where the tents were supposed to be. After trying to get hold of the owners to no avail we decided to get them pulled away.....sooooo I sorta looked forward to that part, making myself comfortable in front of the whole scene prepared to snap photos of the pulling-away-part......but bummer - the owners showed up just in time (after like 45mins) to drive away themselves. *cough*
Some of the construction-stuff were shipped w/ship. Cool.

Per Morten making holes on the ground :p

Some of the guys were pulled away to help build the tribunes.

While others were building fences..

Linda and Hilde (to the left) were working in the food-tent (to feed all the workers) all week.

Sometimes we forgot to bring the ladder along..but that didn't stop us from keeping on working :p

Me and my hubby went for tapas one evening.....ice-cold beer - the glass had been in the freezer prior to being used (hm. I sure think I'm fascinated by beer-shots)...

The food was darn lovely!!! Totally totally recommended (Chaos & Tapas, Arendal)
(Afaik it's also a mixed gay meeting-place, for those who care about that)

Some of the guys taking a breather..

This was the VIP longue..

..and this was the VIP diner-room...

750 VIP-guests and only one washing machine & 2 (one of which didn't work half the weekend) for glasses etc)...mm fun - meant we had to work non-stop in between the meals to get everything ready for the next one..........

One of the boring tasks of the whole weekend was to make sure all the knives, forks&spoons were shiny.......before every single meal...*sigh*
Oh right. The main objective of the whole thing was the race :p

Jens..
Per Morten..
Simen..

Mmm and thats it from Arendal :)
I only have one thing to say...having a designated driver is great & very important, but next year it's totally so not gonna be me :p

Oh, and I wonder if I remember how to scrap now having been away for so long...

~~ Beautiful Summer ~~

Posted by Ania On Sunday, July 19, 2009 4 lovely comments
Here's the rest of the July GGG over at twopeas - themed summer :)
Love the newish Prima-papers, and am glad I finally got a chance to play around w/them. Love the graphic yet whimsical look of this layout of my sister and niece :) And I looove the apron lace borderpunch from Fiskars!!!! :)
(and I love handcutting edges....no straight edges here no :p)

Another thing I love is to colorize my felt letters into the color I want...here's Jazz Blue, one of my fave colors from Glimmer Mist...(the letters are originally white)

And with my printer being &/%&¤%¤#%¤#%¤ I was lucky to find duplicates of summery photos I've printed (and scrapped) before - sigh - hopefully I'll get it fixed soon...it sucks how much I'm so dependant on the printer :(

Anyways - a fairly simple layout - I feel it's a bit....hrm..well..it's simple & plain (and boring) alright. Made with mostly Fancy Pants papers and rubons (from Summer Soiree, Delight and Celebrate) along with a tiny bit of 3ndypapir (the star), Shabby Chic Crafts (the round tag) and rhinestones from KaiserCraft for the final touch :)

And that's it for my July GGG stuffs :)
Wish you all a continued lovely summer :)

~~ Shoes of '08 ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, July 15, 2009 3 lovely comments
Finally got around to scrap my shoes from last summer! :)
I am going to blog about them too ala Xstine & Kine - just still need to get my lazy ass over to actually take photos of the rest of them (these pictures are from before last summer. Yeah. It took me this long to scrap'em :p)

I can share one small tidbit tho (cuz I'm sooo interesting *cough*) - it wasn't until I was pregnant w/Adrian that I started to realize I needed to have (&wear) some more..comfortable shoes than my beloved high-heels ;p And it wasn't really until last year or so that I finally started to use high heels more :p (sigh. I love high heels. I guess it's because I'm so small - 161/5.3ft :p)

This is one of the new layouts for the July GGG thingie (the midmonth garden) over at twopeas :)

Materials used: American Crafts

~~ Photos from the summerplace ~~

We spent the whole last week (well, close anyways :) ) out at the summerplace.
As usual I got home w/some photos mm..random selection inc..

Amalie and her beloved "diamond"-game.

Um yeah. I'm drawn to Irish beer.
Taken at 11pm, ISO 1250 and I love it =)

Adrian spent a good deal of the vacation at the pier fishing for crabs.
It's amusing listening to the kids convos about the finer art of fishing for crabs...and to see that Amalie now is old enough to do her share - she was the designated crab-food-fetcher (looking for blue mussels & opening them before handing them over to Adrian)

We did some regular fishing too (one day we caught six fish - w/me being responsible for four of'em. Yeap. ME! Hah! =) ). Amalie is letting me know when enough is enough when it comes to taking photos :p

Hubby preparing the fish :)

Did I mention how much I adore the kids? Esp when they're so lovely w/each others (oh sure, they can whine and tease each other like, eh, no other, but when they're good they're like, good :p) Here Adrian is reading a cartoon for Amalie..

:)
Hubby&his grandpa dragging another stump up behind the maincottage..the old one was rotten and there were lots of logs to be chopped for the winter :p

And I have to say...the cottage-life sure is nice but getting home and shower for the first time in like five days is awesome ;p

~~ Some Hambly July Stuff ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, July 08, 2009 6 lovely comments
Some stuff for Hambly Screenprints July :)

A card (um, duh).
A layout. (again. duh.)
Some My Little Shoebox-stuff mixed in here by the way - the journalspots and the transparency-title :)

And finally a minibook made w/Clear Scraps minialbum and lots of Hambly papers and rubons..
The images are from a weekend earlier in May when dad and sis& my youngest niece visited us :)
I have to say I find clear-albums tricky!! I know I can cover'em up like reg minis sorta, but I feel like I have to um, like gain adventage of the see-throughiness and it really is tricky imo! Tried to think of ways the rubons could be utilized both sides...

Todays Pencil-Lines is guested by Gudrun Loennecken, an amazingly talented and sweet artist I've been fortunate to meet and scrap with once :) She's behind 3ndypapir together with Lene, and makes the coolest Norwegian papers around here - and they sponsed this sketch w/their papers!! :)

I used photos from a recent BBQ with some scrapping friends here in Bergen....loves :)
Mm...I have to admit - I'm not into the banner-thingie which's pretty popular with scrapbookers and other crafty people, but for this one I thought it sorta fit and I really like the way it turned out - between the banners and the distressed edges this layout didn't need that much more embellishment :)

Ps!
I hatehatehatehatehate my printer right now. Totally non-cooperable, being silly refusing to print and I have several deadlines looming (several of which's themed/specific when it comes to size/# of photos). UGH! Not.Good. :(
(Yeah, I'm a case-by-case printer. I hate printing out photos before I actually have a project for them sorta, which means printing out photos in advance for crops is one of my pet-peeves cuz...well, I just don't like that part :p)

~~ Guest Garden Girl July ~~

Posted by Ania On Thursday, July 02, 2009 10 lovely comments
I totally totally fell off my chair when I learned I was gonna be GGG at 2peas for July. Totally. Then I got this mad urge to yell and tell somebody who cared. Not that anyone were around at that time. sigh.

Then.
Holy. Sh*t.
Then I was terrified. Horrified. Whatever.
This is some scary stuff I tell you! s c a r y

*sighs*

So.

Here's my stuff for the first garden - w/the theme being "Inspiration Fashion".

A paper-pieced Hello, Kitty card made w/Fancy Pants Designs

A gift-wrapping made w/Hambly and Prima - inspired by an image (which can be seen in the 2peas-post of this item)

A fairly clean&simple layout inspired by my imaginations of a catwalk (white, minimalistic, posh and all that).. (and I couldn't resist the darn cute chipboard from SEI which reminded me of letterpressed stuff which I personally find very fashionable.

Oh and there's usually always lots of wild colors in fashion. You know the kind of catwalk-crazy-one-of-a-kind stuff that no sane person would really actually wear. These kind of clothes got their own name, but I'm not into fashion that way so I can't remember what they're called.
I used Hambly & Danielle Thompsons digistuff here (am SO glad Kine introduced me to these on a package she sent me - they're so cute and so versatile!)

And that's it for now!
I'll share the rest when they get up at 2peas for the midmonth-garden 15th :)
Oh, and I got a tshirt too *snicker* I'll try to remember to take a piccie soon - I thought it was a neat touch to the guest-dt-gig :)

~~ Amalies drawing & some photos ~~

Posted by Ania On Wednesday, July 01, 2009 3 lovely comments
So, as I've mentioned earlier - we've been playing Diablo2 lately, and Amalie's been pretty interested in playing aswell. It's so cute listening to her and her daddys convos when it comes to the game - she understands a lot for a four year old (I'd imagine), about the game and its mechanisms and thinks it's fun - so proud whenever she finds something (money, items, new mobs - it gets a bit tiresome when she's absolutely gonna show us ever little thing tho) :) Her attention-span however is like every four year old - she tires of it after like 5 minutes and goes on to do something else entirely :p

She also drew herself playing - the lying one is herself when she's dead (and she dies a lot too ;p), the standing one is her when she's not dead and she even pointed out the boss among the mobs surrounding her. She doesn't look traumatized about that fact by the way, in case anybody wondered - she's just proud about the whole thing :) It sure warms a nerdy moms heart :p
(and yes I know we might have a different view on what children "can" and "cannot" do and games and all that blah blah, being seasoned gamers ourselves and hey I even took courses on children and gaming (I love Sherry Turkle - she was seriously way ahead of her time) when I studied media - a fascinating subject imo..really wish I explored that field more)

We went hiking up Ulriken the other day. I came home with a few shots of the kids and stuff, but none of the view. Figures.

On the top (you can cheat and take the cable car too)

Mm and I had to do a shot of my new wallet - it's so me ;p

And that's it for now :)
Oh, and I read about Geo-caching here at the Lifetime Moments blog and immediately became fascinated - modern day treasure-hunting - it sounds so fun! :)
