~~ Meet Miss S ~~

Posted by Ania On Saturday, March 30, 2013 1 lovely comments

Did I mention I’ve got myself a new cam a couple weeks ago? Yeah..shooting a couple of weddings this year (Whee! The first one’s only a week away actually!), so I splurged on a much needed necessity – getting myself a 2nd body. One – in case (Heaven forbid) anything happens to my beloved D700. Two – so I don’t need to swap lenses all too often. So when I was asked to do a babysession I was all too happy to oblige (uhm hello, babies? Yes please!)…anything to put my new (ok, I got it used, but to me it’s new) D3s to the test!

_D3S8220

So, meet Miss S. Sure. She’s smiling here.

_D3S8284

Here too! But lemme tell ya. It was not easy getting her to give us the slightest hint of smile. She remained sceptical for a good long while, and got mommy & daddy to jump through quite a few hoops working it in hopes of a smile or two....

_D3S8417

But it’ ok. She is quite adorable no matter what. Even when she kept wanting to gnaw on her own fist on about half the pictures I took. Haa..babies, I tell ya!

_DSC2502_original

Being a supermodel is such exhausting work. Then again, she’s just as adorable when closing her eyes, causing me to sneak in a few more photos…(actually, personally I prefer the photos with her parents in, doing regular parenty stuff..it’s the photojournalist in me loving such situations methinks)

And my new camera? Love, love, love the high ISO-abilities. It’s amazing. Really. Just need to trust it more, I’m a bit too afraid of hi ISO..which’s silly, seeing as it’s one of the main reasons I wanted the D3s. Seem to be able to hit correct focus most of the time (the focus ratio seem to be consistent with my old cam, possibly missing slightly more), although it might be a little slow on locking the focus in low light/low contrast situations, but I suppose that’s to be expected…just need more patience (or learn to focus manually…but I don’t trust my own eyesight, hrm…)

~~ March Sketch ~~

Easter’s here…and tbh, to me that means precious days off!

Just wanted to share a little bit inspo for the Easter..like this chocolate box…

it’s based upon this monthly sketch from ColorConspiracy…:

I just flipped it upside down…

ania_march_sketch2_web

Pulled random bits and pieces from my desk…

ania_march_sketch3_web

And used papers from ColorConspiracy, ofcourse…partly from the older collections, and some from the newer ones, like the background paper used on the cover :)

Nothing’s like a decorated chocolate box to brighten up a friends day…

ania_march_sketch4_web

Even got to use the lovely star punch from Martha Stewart! Yay!

The cover + inside paper are from this collection btw:

Right.

Did you see that Maya Road are looking for guest designers by the way?

Do give it a shot. They’re generous with their product packs, and who in their right mind would want to say no to a such a variety of versatile embellishments to play with!?

Also – right now there’s a lot of wreath fun on the MR blog!

(yeah..I chickened outta this one..me & wreaths? Nuh-huh!)

This months inspiration on ColorConspiracy is typography. I just did a simple take on that inspiration theme, I just mixed various sized letters in the title…but I know – it’s possible to do a much more clever play on typography, like the way Madga did in the CC inspiration post here.

ania_inspired2

Simple or not – I still like to add longer titles by using these small letters from Adornit (I have like, 8-10 more sheets of these, they were so cheap and so versatile…I dread the day I’m outta these letters)…plus normally I prefer letters the size of the purple thickers here…I like putting together long-ish titles and stuff…

Right. Sunday. Workday. Catchupday.newbaby

I got a new baby and am only 1/3rd into the manual (yes..I’m one of these suckers who actually read the manuals..at least when it comes to this) but I need to wrap up a few chores first.

Let’s go.

~~ This one’s for you, grandma ~~

mini1

I’ve been wanting to do this mini for quite a while now..

mini2

I just haven’t dared…I mean..I knew I *had* to use the Sew Cute Mini Chipboard set from Maya Road – no doubt. Add in the measurement trim and stuff…perfect accessories to these photos:

mini4

Which is from 2006..when I visited my grandma with a pair of newly purchased pants, a tiny tad (cough) too long. No worries, grandma fixed them with her trusty, old Singer sewing machine.

mini5

At least, she helped preparing the sewing machine…
(and no, I do not think I stood there pantless taking photos of mom and grandma. I think I had the new pants in a bag when I arrived. If memory serves me right..cough..)

mini6

Nevertheless….the sewing machine worked swell..

mini7

With my mom behind, sewing…

mini8

Stamps and embellishments all from Maya Road – lovely papers from ColorCOnspiracy :) I wanted this mini to be as clean as possible, with focus on the photos inside..

mini9

As far as I am aware, grandma likes getting these little gifts from me. Well, mom keeps telling me so, urging me to send grandma more. And I wanted her to have this little album..I mean..she probably forgot about it by now, but I remember how nice it was having her old (supercool) sewing machine actually being used just for me sort of…how nice it was to be able to snap photos of her and my mom together, trying to solve this puzzle….I’m sure the sewing machine hadn’t been used for years….

mini10

Don’t you agree that these chipboards were simply just perfect for this theme? Love how coloring whitewashed chipboards makes the maya mist really shine – especially when adding glossy accent on top!

mini3

Oh, and I made the mini myself from scratch. Like. Hm. Yeah. Couldn't find a mini that fit how I wanted it so I just pulled together some papers, chipboards and adhesive…

Have a lovely week!

Hey wait, where’s the three other photos, you may think. There’s only one visible here…

challenge3

Mmm…see that bow? Open it..(oh, and by the way, see that good ol’ Love Elsie epoxy-sticker too? :) )

challenge6

Like this…

challenge5

And voila…more photos :)

challenge4

I originally intended to have five photos on this layout..but I usually just print out photos w/o really checking their dimensions…just guessing this’ll do…well, this time I wasn’t really able to fit all of them on the layout in a way pleasing to my eyes..so instead of forcing it and/or have to re-print some of the photos, I decided to just make a little leaflet/booklet so I could get all of them on the same layout.

challenge2

So..

this layout was created for the ColorConspiracy’s March challenge, which’s to use 4 or more photos on one layout (or if you chose to do projects – 4 or more of the same embellishment).

Right. papers and die cuts from ColorConspiracy ofc…..awesome black glittery stars and glassy flowers from Prima… letters from Websters and Pink Paislee…twine, transparency tickets and wooden butterfly from Maya Road…oh, even an arrow die-cut from Scenic Route..plus already mentioned epoxy stickers from Love, Elsie (KI Memories)…

right…

join along :)

~~ I have a sketch for you ~~

Posted by Ania On Saturday, March 02, 2013 1 lovely comments

Lo. And behold.

I made a sketch.

sketch_february

I won’t do this too often. It’s too much of a headache! But by all means – feel free to use it.

I made it for the monthly sketch challenge over at ColorConspiracy. Loved to see the other ladies take on it! Here’s mine, by the way.

sketch1

As you can see I flipped the sketch and made two strips of photos…

sketch2

Photos from our trip to Moustiers Sainte-Marie in Southern France. Provence I suppose…?
Love using French papers and embellishments for the French photos =)

sketch3

The golden star was sort of a village symbol….there was a golden star hung up high above the village..

minigiant1

Speaking about ColorConspiracy…there’s two mini collections coming out soon, complete with stickers and die cuts – check out Mini Giant and Graphic Loop!
